HP 15-G080NR Highlights -
Pros: Affordable. Fairly slim and light-weight. Capable processor for performing everyday tasks with good battery life.
Cons: Lacks touchscreen capability. Limited memory.
When shopping for a laptop, some users would prefer a laptop with all the bells and whistles (i.e. the latest technologies) and some would rather just have an affordable laptop that can handle everyday tasks with simple yet powerful value-packed specifications. If you fall into the later group of users, then we think HP 15-g080nr will suit your needs. The laptop doesn't have the latest touchscreen display, yet it has an elegant 15.6 inch LED-backlit display. Also, it doesn't have a processor that offers similar performance to that of the latest Intel Core i7 processor, however it's AMD A6-6310 processor will deliver enough power to finish your daily computing tasks. This, along with it's 4GB of memory, 750GB storage space and a price tag of less than $500 makes it very affordable for users looking for a no fuss everyday laptop. Encased in a black Licorice plastic body, the laptop looks attractive with a thickness of only 1 inch.
Performance - The AMD A6-6310 is a relatively new processor released in early 2014 and includes some power and performance enhancements when compared to its predecessors. It is a quad-core processor with clock rate of up to 2.4GHz which enables slimline laptops like the HP 15-g080nr to have outstanding performance and superior battery life. In mobile devices like laptops, having good battery life is as important as having the best possible performance because without good battery life, the laptop use is limited as far as portability is concerned. The A6-6310 processor is sufficient for all daily workloads like office productivity, web browsing and multimedia tasks.
Storage & Memory - The laptop comes with 4GB of DDR3 memory and 750GB (5400 RPM) storage space. As far as we know, the memory can't be expanded, which is bit disappointing. However, the storage space is excellent for the price as it allows users to store up to 500,000 photos, 214,000 songs or 395 hours of HD video.
Display, Graphics & Sound - The HP 15-g080nr features a 15.6 inch non-touchscreen LED backlit display with BrightView technology. Also, the display is not full HD and supports a resolution of 1366x768 pixels. Nevertheless, the images are as crisp and clear as you would expect from a budget laptop. The processor integrated AMD Radeon R4 graphics only allows the playing of older and less demanding games flawlessly. More recent games need to be run in low resolution settings to avoid any lag time. Games like FIFA 2014, Gird 2, Sims 3 and Bioshock Infinite can be played smoothly on this laptop. Also, streaming videos from YouTube will not be an issue. The sound quality is pretty average when using the integrated stereo speakers.
Battery - The 4-cell lithium-ion battery offers a battery life of up to 5 hours.
Operating System - Unlike most recent laptops, the HP 15-g080nr comes with Windows 7 Home Premium.
