Performance - The laptop is powered by an Intel Core i7-4710HQ processor. It is the same processor featured in the ASUS gaming laptop - ASUS ROG G550JK-DS71. This is a fairly recent processor as it was only launched in early 2014. The processor has 4 cores in total. Each core runs at a base speed of 2.5 GHz but due to Turbo Boost technology, the processor can dynamically increase clock rates to up to 3.5GHz as and when needed by applications. Also, the 4 cores are capable of running up to 8 threads in parallel due to Hyper-Threading (HT) technology. This is particularly important if users want to run multiple applications at once. Tasks like video editing, 3D rendering, and heavy multi-tasking will greatly benefit from HT technology. This laptop will easily handle multiple demanding applications simultaneously making it a great choice for users looking for a laptop to multitask. High end users will particularly benefit from having such a laptop.
Storage & Memory - Toshiba S55T-B5260 comes with a massive 12GB of DDR3 memory and 1TB (5400 RPM) hard drive. The memory and storage is also higher than what you'll find in most modern laptops. The Core i7 processor along with 12GB of memory will ensure that the laptop will breeze through all your demanding tasks whether it be editing multimedia files, graphics design in Adobe Photoshop or processing video files. Then, once your done with editing your video files, the 1TB of storage space will make sure you have enough storage space to storage all your files and documents. Please note that the memory can be upgraded to 16GB if required.
Display, Graphics & Sound - The laptop features a 15.6 inch LED backlit high-definition touchscreen display with a maximum resolution of 1366x768 pixels. The responsive 10-point multi-touch control allows for easier and more convenient navigation in Windows 8.1. Our only disappointment with this laptop is the lack of Full HD (1920x1080 pixels) resolution. However, even without Full HD, the picture appears clear and crisp, and is suitable for watching movies and playing games. The laptop comes with processor integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600. As with most integrated graphics cards, casual gaming is acceptable but if you're contemplating some serious gaming then you should consider a laptop with a dedicated graphics card like the ASUS ROG G750JM-DS71 laptop. Also, the DTS Sound with premium Harman Kardon stereo speakers users will enjoy quality sound for their movies, music and games.
Battery - The 4-cell lithium-ion battery can provide up to 4.5 hours of battery life and is not user replaceable.

Toshiba Satellite S55T-B5260 doesn't disappoint on ports and connectivity options either. The laptop comes with the latest 802.11ac WLAN for faster wireless connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0 and Gigabit (10/100/1000) Ethernet LAN. There is no media card reader, however it does come with 1 USB 2.0 port, 1 USB 3.0 port and 1 USB 3.0 with USB sleep and charge allowing users to charge their smartphone or tablet even when the laptop is in sleep mode. Also, the laptop supports 4K Ultra HD (3840x 2160) HDMI output, so users can connect to next generation 4K TVs and enjoy four times the image resolution of Full HD content. There is a front facing HD webcam and backlit keyboard to enable users to work in low light conditions. The laptop measures 10.20 x 14.96 x 0.86 inches and weighs 4.9 pounds.
