Samsung S27D390H Highlights
Pros: PLS panel. Game Mode. Modern (Touch of Color) design.
Cons: No VESA mount support. Limited connectivity options.
Samsung S27D390H belongs to the SD590 series of monitors from Samsung. It features Samsung's Plane-Line Switching (PLS) panel technology. It is the same panel which was first used with the Samsung Galaxy Tab. The PLS panel has viewing angles as wide as In-Plane Switching (IPS) panels featured in the Acer H276HL. This panel offers higher brightness at a lower cost (in terms of power consumption), thereby making it energy efficient. According to Samsung, production costs for PLS panels are 15 percent lower than IPS panels. As with most modern monitors, Samsung S27D390H uses the LED backlight technology.
Samsung S27D390H offers full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution and with 5ms response time, 300 Nit brightness, 16.7 Million colors and Samsung's Mega DCR (Dynamic Contrast Ratio), the monitor will provide a visual experience that is crisp and clear with vibrant colors.
Perhaps the most striking feature of the Samsung S27D390H is it's elegant and modern look. It is based on 'Touch of Color' design from Samsung featuring a crystal blue neck and bezel. The gentle blue lighting around the edges gives the monitor an elegant shimmer. Even the transparent neck has a bluish shade in the light. The stand can be tilted for greater visual comfort.
Samsung S27D390H features 'Magic Upscale' that up-converts older video formats and improves image quality when displaying images and video from a laptop, tablet, or smartphone. Magic Upscale prevents image degradation when scaling up and makes images on the monitor appear clearer and sharper than on a notebook. Gamers will love the single button push 'Game Mode' that detects changes in scenes and adjusts contrast so that graphics seem even more alive.

The monitor measures 8.2 x 17.8 x 24.6 inches and weighs 10.3 pounds.
Samsung S27D390H offers advanced features and an elegant design for a reasonably priced monitor. The PLS panel, Game Mode and Magic upscale technology makes this monitor stand apart from it's competitors. The SD590 series also comes in a smaller 23.6 inch screen with similar features. However, for the price the Samsung S27D390H monitor is a very good choice as it offers outstanding value for money.
