The ViewSonic logo featuring three Gouldian Finches have become a well recognized symbol of excellence, one that instantly communicates attributes such as brilliant color and sharp resolution. The ViewSonic VA2746M is another great offering from ViewSonic. For the price, this monitor offers some excellent features including a 27 inch widescreen LED display with thin-bezel design. It also supports Full HD resolution (1920x1080) with a 20M:1 MEGA Dynamic Contrast Ratio (DCR) and has a quick 3.4ms response time.
The ViewSonic VA2746M uses a TN (Twisted Nematic) panel, rather than a In Plane Switching (IPS) panel. The virtues of the TN panel technology include lower response times and production costs as compared to IPS. Although TN panels are by far the most popular in the world and are found in virtually all laptops and a large majority of desktop monitors, the color accuracy and viewing angles is not on par with monitors using IPS panels like Acer H276HL. For color critical applications such as photography, video editing or web design, monitors with IPS panels are still the better choice. However, IPS panels have their own drawbacks: they are expensive and tend to have higher response times which is not ideal for gaming. Regardless of the panel technology, the picture quality of the ViewSonic VA2746M is very good. It looks great surfing the web, reading articles, viewing pictures, or watching movies making this monitor ideal for home and home-office use. The images and text are clear and crisp, and with it's 300 Nit brightness, the monitor is extremely bright. The ViewSonic VA2746M features a thin-bezel design with average build quality.

ViewSonic VA2746M connectivity options are limited to DVI and VGA inputs. The lack of HDMI is a bit disappointing, however you can buy a DVI to HDMI converter cable for less than $10 and this will work flawlessly. The monitor comes with two integrated 2W stereo speakers but don't expect great sound quality. For this, we would recommend getting separate Bose speakers instead. Also, this monitor is VESA mountable so it can be easily mounted onto a monitor stand or on the wall, as required. ViewSonic's proprietary Eco-mode function is built into all it's monitors, thereby offering options to reduce brightness and conserve energy. Another great selling point of the ViewSonic VA2746M is that the monitor is backed by a Pixel Performance guarantee and a 3 year limited warranty.

For the price, the ViewSonic VA2746M offers excellent value for money. This monitor with a TN panel is inexpensive and offers good picture quality. However if low cost is not a primary concern, we would generally recommend monitors with IPS display panels like the Acer H276HL. The ViewSonic VA2746M also comes in 22-inch and 24-inch models with similar specifications.
