Dell Inspiron i3147-3750sLV Touchscreen Laptop

Dell Inspiron i3147-3750sLV Highlights -

Pros: 2-in-1 design. Thin, compact and lightweight. Good battery life.

Cons: Entry-level processor. Not suitable for high-end gaming.

Convertible laptops offer the flexibility of a laptop with the convenience of a tablet. As convertible laptops are becoming more common, Dell has come out with a very competitive product called the Dell Inspiron i3147-3750sLV. The entire design of the laptop is based around hinges that can rotate 360 degrees, so that users can lay it flat on the table as a tablet or use it as a standard laptop with it's full sized keyboard. The laptop is very lightweight, and opening and folding the laptop is very simple. At first we had reservations about how long the hinges would last with constant use. However, Dell has stress tested the laptop hinges to ensure they still feel tight, even after opening and closing the lid 20,000 times. To put this into perspective, even if a user opens and closes the laptop on average 10 times a day, the hinges will last for at least 5 years.
Apart from a great design, the laptop offers decent performance and responsiveness with it's Intel Pentium processor, 4GB of memory and 500GB storage space. Also, the laptop has achieved the right balance with it's 11.6 inch screen which is ideal to be used both as a laptop and as a tablet.

Performance - The laptop is powered by an Intel Pentium N3520 processor capable of running at a speed of 2.16GHz (with Burst speed of up to 2.4GHz). It has a power efficient quad-core processor especially suited for entry-level laptops. Because the processor consumes less power, it makes the laptop extremely portable as it won't need frequent charging. This makes perfect sense for a convertible laptop. Dell promises the battery will last up to 7.5 hours. But we think users will most likely get around 5-6 hours of regular use before charging. Since, the processor lacks many advanced Intel technologies like Turbo Boost and Hyper-Threading, the laptop's performance is adequate for simple everyday tasks such as internet browsing or office productivity applications. In benchmark tests carried out by CPUBoss, the Intel Pentium N3520 performance was below that of an entry level Core i3 processor (Intel Core i3 - 3110M). However, the N3520 outperformed in terms of value and power consumption which reinforces our belief that the laptop is an excellent choice for users looking for portability.
Storage & Memory - Dell Inspiron i3147-3750sLV comes with 4GB of DDR3 memory and 500GB (5400 RPM) hard drive. Though on the lower side to what is currently available in the market, for the price, we think the memory and storage space is sufficient for light multitasking and storing multimedia files or documents.
Display, Graphics & Sound - The laptop features a 11.6 inch LED Backlit high-definition touchscreen display with a maximum resolution of 1366x768 pixels. The edge-to-edge touch display will enable users to easily navigate around the screen and take full advantage of features offered by the pre-installed Windows 8.1. The processor integrated Intel HD Graphics has limited gaming performance, restricting users to run only older and less demanding games smoothly. More recent games will need to be run on low quality settings and resolution. Also, the Waves MaxxAudio delivers good sound quality when playing music, videos and games.
Battery - The 3-cell lithium-ion battery can provide up to 7.5 hours of battery life.
Operating System - Windows 8.1.

What it lacks is an optical drive and Ethernet LAN port, however since it is a convertible laptop, users shouldn't expect these features anyway.
