Toshiba Satellite C55D-A5170 has similar specifications along the lines of the Toshiba C55-A5384 Laptop. The major difference between the two is that C55-A5384 is powered by Intel Core i3 processor whereas C55D-A5170 is powered by AMD Dual-Core E1-2100 processor. The 4GB of memory, 500GB hard drive and a 15.6 inch screen comes as standard in both laptops.
Performance - As mentioned, Toshiba Satellite C55D-A5170 is powered by AMD Dual-Core E1-2100 Accelerated processor with a clock speed of 1GHz. The E1-2100 is a lower end processor from AMD. The performace of this processor is very poor compared to most modern laptops, which come with at least an Intel Core i3 processor.
Storage & Memory - The laptop comes with 4GB of memory and 500GB hard drive. The 4GB memory is standard in most decent laptops and will let you run demanding programs. Also, the hard drive space should be sufficient for storing thousands of songs, photos and documents.
Display, Graphics & Sound - Toshiba Satellite C55D-A5170 features a 15.6 diagonal widescreen TruBrite LED backlit display at 1366x768 native resolution (High Definition). The integrated AMD Radeon HD 8210 is good for video playback and mostly suitable for playing older or less demanding games. The laptop also comes with a built-in stereo speakers.
Battery - The 6-cell battery pack provide up to 5.3 hours of battery life.

Toshiba Satellite C55D-A5170 is a very basic laptop that will get your everyday tasks done. However, we think that over time as you install more applicatons, the laptop will get slower especially with it's below par processor. If you don't mind spending a little bit more then we suggest that you consider Toshiba C55-A5384 Laptop. It has a better processor and it's other specifications are mostly similar.
